packaging supply chain consultants

I am an ecommerce start-up – can Cellpak manage my inventory directly for me?  From receipt from the manufacturer, providing storage and subsequent distribution of customer orders including returns?

What is your lead time for manufacturing corrugated board POP display materials from my packaging design company’s specifications?

Cellpak Solutions is the preferred supply chain partner for many satisfied customers and can provide specialist support and outsourcing for key packaging, packing, storage and distribution functions.  There are set up costs to consider for this type of order fulfilment service; such as dedicated racking space, bulk packaging manufacturing, product storage and picking, use of our custom fulfilment software for stock and order reporting.

These set up costs for a fully managed order fulfilment service can sometimes be prohibitive for start-ups, in this case we do have other services, such as contract packing, which may be more suitable to support you through the early days.

Our third party order fulfilment service is tailored to the individual needs of each client and their particular product format, packing requirements and distribution needs.

In order to provide you with a formal quotation, we will need to discuss your order fulfilment requirements in detail: contact our packaging sales team to arrange a meeting with members of our expert packaging and 3PL project team.

Litho lamination describes the process of combining a lithographically printed ‘top’ sheet or roll of paper/card to a sheet or roll of heavier weight, typically corrugated, board.

Lithography is a type of printing using plates (the name comes in part from the greek word lithos meaning stone). It works on the principle that oil and water do not mix.

When the printing plate is made, the ‘positive’ printing image has a smooth surface and is made grease receptive and hydrophobic, or water repelling. The ‘negative’ non-printing areas has a rough texture and is made hydrophilic, or water attracting, and ink repelling. Rollers are used to apply first water and then ink to the plate.

A rubber cylinder is then rolled over the plate that squeezes away the water and picks up the ink. This cylinder is then rolled over the paper, transferring the ink.  Because the image is first transferred to a cylinder, this process is called “offset lithography”.

Corrugated board is not a suitable surface for high quality printing but is, of course, an exceptional material for strong, protective packaging.  Litho lamination allows for the production of packaging that combines the unique properties of corrugated cardboard with the appeal of high quality lithographic printing.

A litho printed sheet can also have a variety of decorative finishes applied such as lamination, embossing, foil blocking and spot varnishes, allowing for a wide range of consumer-facing high-quality branded packaging applications.

Litho laminated packaging is cost-effective at any volume, suited to both light and heavyweight products and is excellent for retail displays with uses ranging from cosmetics and gift packaging, promotional materials and boxes, glass/chinaware packaging, toys and games packaging, FMCG, food and drink packaging, FMCE, electrical and computer products packaging and more…

The minimum print run for custom printed cartons is 1 (one) bespoke digitally printed carton but generally printed cartons become reasonable once you go over a quantity of 5000 pieces. This is due to raw material cost reducing for higher quantity and print set-up becoming more reasonable once amortised into the unit cost of your printed boxes.

Braille can be accommodated into any product packaging that is either produced in a moulding process or by a die cutting process.  Please be aware there are special tooling requirements for adding Braille to your packaging.

In the UK, over 2 million people are visually impaired but only between 10-20,000 people can read Braille.  Working with our packaging designers, we can help you to develop clearly branded and labelled packaging that supports good legibility and ease of recognition for both sighted and visually impaired customers.

Careful use of clean, less cursive fonts, good colour contrast and considered layouts can go a long way to improving the success of your packaging as a communication tool for your product for the visually impaired.

Yes, we can provide low volume bespoke labels, our minimum order quantity is 1,000 printed labels. We can offer many generic packaging solutions such as stock corrugated cartons, solid board cartons and thermoformed plastic blister packs.
